Illustrator For New Authors
Here an artist, there an artist. But is there everywhere... an artist, who steps out of the mainstream? Not many. Although there is filial connection between Zachary Hunt and I, there is little or no nepotism prompting me to describe his art style because I did not always know it. No. He just showed up in post-adolescence with an interest that flowed out of this once quiet child whose demeanor was only in observing others. That is, until I saw him play guitar with strings that were upside down … bass strings at the bottom of the neck instead of at the top, which also left the chord forms nameless! Well, that’s another story, but it certainly explains a lot in the way he executes his hand strokes.
His illustrations move because he gives a rather austere definition to faces using lines to produce the wrinkles of life’s experiences. Now I’m not talking about just a good silhouette or character sketch. I’m talking about breath that flows through these images, moving expressions that, by his hand , offers the eye life and mood. I’ll stop explaining and don this blog with one of several that I am using in my upcoming book, “McMullan’s Cellar”.
If for some reason, you find this helpful to your next project, I can’t promise anything. You must deal directly with him on Facebook. In the meantime, I’m considering contacting Oprah Winfrey for her first network program, entitling "Young Illustrators at Genius Level”. What do you think?
